NIBC supports local student team in international technology competitionCorporate News -
NIBC was the main sponsor of the 'Montessori Water Rangers' team, which participated in the First Lego League, a technology competition for youngsters from 9 to 15. The team consisted of ten primary school students from the Montessorischool in Wassenaar. After winning the regional finals at the Haagse Hogeschool and coming fifth in the Benelux finals, they joined the international finals in Debrecen, Hungary.
During the competition, the Water Rangers were challenged to design, build and program a robot. The team also needed to think of an innovative solution to a problem within the field of Hydro Dynamics. The students learned a lot about topics like food packaging and water waste during this challenge: all important topics in terms of sustainability. Did you, for instance, know that not eating beef once a week, saves as much water as you would use while showering a whole month?
The Water Rangers were the youngest competitors in a field of 61 schools, and were given special recognition in the category "Core Values" and "Innovation' by the judges.
