FinTech and Banks; Built for Marriage?Corporate News -
NIBC hosted the “FinTech and Banks; Built for Marriage?” event in the framework of our Innovation Lab’s Inspiration Monday theme. In a world where banks face numerous challenges, FinTech can be both a blessing and a curse. Though one thing is certain: we cannot ignore changes around us.
Reinout van Riel welcomed more than a hundred FinTech enthusiasts from NIBC, a number of FinTechs and the Young Financials Network to NIBC’s head office on 17 October. Following, FinTech experts Don Ginsel, Willem Vermeend (FinTech ambassador) and Thomas Bunnik presented their views on the topic in the NIBC Restaurant.
Not all looks rosy, as Willem Vermeend warned us that in “5 years’ time banks have become obsolete organisations as business models change in lightning speed”. Don Ginsel from Holland FinTech illustrated how fast FinTech is gaining ground in the financial world. And Thomas Bunnik from Pritle colored the discussion by giving real life examples of the struggles a FinTech company is facing.
The overall conclusion: a wedding between FinTechs and banks is a must.
