Bringing vital connectivity to rural areas
A joint venture between regional network operator Cogas and Rabo Bouwfonds Communication Infrastructure Fund, CKIB B.V. is committed to delivering high quality communications infrastructure to its customers in the rural areas of Twente in east Netherlands. The area has seen strong demand for better bandwidth communication to meet basic needs such as online teaching and data exchanges between farmers.
In April 2016 CKIB secured financing from NIBC to fund the roll-out of an optic fiber network to connect some 20,000 homes and businesses in the area.
As a bilateral loan, we provided non-recourse financing to CKIB B.V. for the roll out of the new network in Twente.
We were quick to deliver our financing to CKIB B.V., and have further strengthened our longstanding support for the Rabo Bouwfonds Communication Infrastructure Fund (RBCIF). The transaction is one of the multiple financings we have provided to RBCIF for their investments in digital infrastructure.
With the roll-out of the optic fibre network to be completed in 2017, thousands of households in the towns of Tubbergen, Hardenberg, Twenterand, Wierden, Dinkelland and Hof van Twente, enjoy new levels of digital connectivity.
Our aim is to extend the successful roll-out of CKIB in other areas. The objective is to reach 300,000 connected homes, companies and recreation houses with glass fiber in the coming years. Our partnership and the flexibility of NIBC contributes to reaching this objective. - Michiel Admiraal - Director Glasvezel Buitenaf
