A great place to live for students: “The Fizz”, all convenience and services
A conversation with Rogier Hetterschijt, International Campus
International Campus is a developer, investor and operator of student and young professionals housing in Germany, the Netherlands and Austria and develops student housing in, among others, university cities Utrecht and Leiden in the Netherlands. This concept is called ‘The Fizz’.
The Fizz offers students more choice in their way of living. At these two locations, of which ‘Utrecht’ has already been completed and ‘Leiden’ is still in the realization phase, students can live in a place where they can find all services and conveniences they need. This includes furnished homes, but also sports facilities, places to chill, a green environment and guarded bicycle storage facilities.
Creating a community for students
“For International Campus it is important that we create a product where students feel at home, and where we offer a full service, with fully furnished homes and shared spaces, because we think the community feeling for students is of utmost importance. This is what we now have realized in Utrecht with 639 apartments and are realizing in Leiden, where 394 student residences are being built.”
The Fizz Utrecht has many amenities: shared spaces, study areas, a laundry room and an indoor and outdoor gym. Shared spaces each have their own style, one Play-themed, one Chill-themed, where we offer, among other things, a football table, pool table and large screens with Playstations, in order for students to chill next to their studying.”
A special feature of the ‘Leiden’ project is that it is located on the edge of the Leiden city center, in a place that has long been undeveloped. With this project we can contribute in making the city more attractive and beautiful.
In addition to improving the environment, we also think about a sustainable future. Sustainability is expressed in various aspects within the Leiden project. In addition to a ATES system, the roof is covered with more than 180 solar panels, residents have insight into their own energy consumption, and hard work is being done to create green walls and an inner garden to create a green living environment for the residents.”
Celebrating success, ready for the future!
With International Campus, we are very proud to have been able to realize the ‘Utrecht’ project, both with the developer and the construction company, as the project was delivered ahead of schedule and is currently fully rented out.
A strong partner that is solution and future-oriented
“With NIBC as our financial partner, we were able to make this project a success. It is the entrepreneurial and solution-oriented thinking that really made a difference to us. For example, for one of our financings we had to wait a little longer before we could eventually close the deal, and NIBC chose to stay with us.
We really appreciate NIBC’s flexibility, client focused and solution-oriented thinking.”
