NIBC Enabling ARK Data Centres Growth
ARK is one of the largest independent co-location data centre businesses in the UK. It owns and operates two modern, secure and environmentally sensitive data centre campuses close to London. Within its campuses, ARK hosts mission-critical IT for some of the largest UK and international companies. The company is also the data centre joint venture partner of the UK government’s Cabinet Office, hosting public sector organisations such as healthcare, policing and justice, councils and charities.
With the support of NIBC’s debt financing, ARK continues to expand organically and intelligently, building new BladeRoom data centre modules on its two campuses to incrementally meet demand. BladeRoom data centres are manufactured in the factory with minimal work on-site, allowing ARK to quickly and efficiently meet its clients’ needs with state-of-the-art facilities constructed in a fraction of the time required by more traditional building techniques.
ARK was looking to expand its business to meet increased demand. Due to NIBC’s experience in digital infrastructure, we were able to provide a tailored debt finance solution for the company’s continued expansion.
NIBC and ARK acknowledge the importance of an ongoing partnership based on shared values, experience and trust. NIBC has deep insights into the data centre sector in the UK and Europe, as a market leader in financing digital infrastructure businesses. This broader market insight allows us to provide clients such as ARK with a financing solution that fits the specific needs of its stated growth ambition: “To be the UK’s leading provider of high integrity data centres”.
“NIBC stood out from an early stage, because they seem to ask the right questions. The engagement since has been first rate, it’s always sensible, it’s always pragmatic and business-driven,” says Huw Owen, CEO of ARK Data Centres. The financing package will help ARK achieve its growth ambitions, providing capital to fund the construction of new data centres.
Huw Owen, CEO, ARK Data Centres: “We are companies that understand one another and have a similar ethos of doing business. I think that is why we work well together.”
