NIBC in Container Centralen refinancing

NIBC’s refinanced the Dutch-Danish company Container Centralen, joining forces with the client’s existing lender, Nordea Bank. The transaction is a sign of NIBC’s increasing focus on the food-agri and retail sector.

Container Centralen is the European market leader in transportation equipment pooling systems for the horticulture market. Based in Hoofddorp, the Netherlands, the company’s main activities include the purchasing, sale and rental of high-quality reusable transport items for flowers and pot plants.

The company was established in 1976 by Danish flower and pot plant exporters. It is ultimately owned by the DLG Group, a large Danish cooperative and one of the largest agricultural companies in Europe, and the VGB, the Dutch association of wholesale trade in horticultural products. It is active in 40 countries. Since 2010, the company is gradually building up its activities in the US horticulture market next to its strong and unique position in Europe.
